9-15th June 2025
This awareness week was created to raise awareness for caring and recognise the hard work that carers do daily throughout the UK and how their work impacts and benefits our community and how important their role is. The theme for this year’s awareness event is ‘Caring About Equality’ with the purpose of ensuring that all carers feel valued, recognised and supported. Because of this, we wanted to remind all our staff the resources we have available that you can access if you need support regarding many different aspects of life.
Our Employee Assistance Programme
By working with us you get exclusive access to our employee assistance programme, TELUS Health. TELUS provides a range of resources including the following:
- Articles and podcasts on a range of well-being topics covering family, work, health, finances and more
- Self-care programmes (interactive content and exercises to improve your mood and behaviours)
- Well-being assessments (overall view of your physical and mental health and well-being)
- 24/7 live chat and phoneline for anonymous support from a trained professional that is there to support you when needed
- Access to LIFT fitness sessions
While there are several different ways TELUS can support you and your well-being, TELUS also offers discounts and cashback on a range of different brands to help you save money! To join TELUS, please email tilly.brown@dalecare.co.uk for your invitation email.
Our Mental Health First Aid
If you are struggling with your mental health, it’s important not to suffer alone and speak out about how you are feeling. We have support available through our Mental Health Lead, Carol Jackson, who is available to contact for all our carers. If you would like to speak to Carol, please call 07751 828989 or email carol.jackson@dalecare.co.uk.
Blue Light Card
Working within the healthcare sector means that you are eligible to apply for a Blue Light Card. Having a Blue Light Card means that you can access exclusive discounts on a range of different brands. To apply, all you need is a copy of your payslip or a photo of you ID to verify that you work within the care sector. Visit their website to apply: https://www.bluelightcard.co.uk/newaccount.php
Refer a Friend Scheme
By joining Care Friends, you can gain access to our Refer a Friend scheme where you will receive £300 if you refer your friend and they start working with us! With this our staff get rewarded financially for helping us with our recruitment.
The Care Workers’ Charity
One of our charity partners, The Care Workers’ Charity, provides crisis grants to care workers going through financial difficulty. As well as this they offer free counselling sessions for care workers who are struggling with their mental health. For more information visit their website https://www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/.
